Shaw Family


1308. Shaw Family. About 1904. Scott Shaw. He made the first mineral discovery at the Whale mines and served as a guide for wagon trains during the mining boom. He later became a U. S. Army scout. He was born in Louisiana and lost his leg during the Civil War. His father was the son of a French settler and a Spanish girl. His mother was the daughter of an Indian and a Black American woman.
